Filippo Ganna sprinted to fourth place on the penultimate stage at the Tour of Britain to move up to eighth overall.
The powerful Italian led in the chasing GC group on a day which saw the race blown apart across the moors of North Yorkshire.
Ganna crossed the line 30 seconds back on stage victor Cees Bol (Decathlon CMA CGM), who pushed clear following the final climb alongside new race leader Tim Wellens (UAE Emirates - XRG).
Ganna was joined by teammates Kim Heiduk and Ben Swift in a group of 20 after the race split on the steep Redmire climb. Swift had been part of the day's early break and once caught, turned his attentions to pegging the gap to the lead duo.
Heiduk sits 11th overall with one stage to go, as the race prepares to head into the Scottish Borders on Sunday.
