Sam Welsford secured a hard-earned podium as he raced to third in a reduced bunch sprint in Copenhagen.
Welsford was led out by Ben Turner after the early break was caught in the final metres, wth Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin Deuceunick) taking the victory.
Turner and Lucas Hamilton had worked well together on the final lap of the finish circuit in the Danish capital after a crash had splintered the peloton, reducing the number of riders chasing the break dramatically.
The wily quarter infront looked to have timed their effort close to perfection, but they were caught in the final kilometre with Hamilton and Turner contributing to the chase.
Welsford then contested the reduced group sprint, finding a gap behind Philipsen to attack and claim a spot on the podium.
