Carlos Rodriguez fought to sixth on the final stage of Tour Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes with a gritty climbing display on the summit finish to Plateau de Solaison - Brison.
Rodriguez spent the day in the break with teammate Laurens De Plus, with Kévin Vauquelin who bridged across on a gruelling day of climbing which was won by Isaac Del Toro, who subsequently took the race win.
The Netcompany INEOS trio saw their move kept on a tight lease, with Rodriguez the last rider from the early break to keep pace with the GC groups to finish the race with a sixth place on the final stage.
Giro d'Italia Next Gen
Cameron Rogers sprinted to fifth for our Racing Academy in the opening stage of Giro d'Italia Next Gen as Kasper Haugland took the solo victory and maglia rosa.
Haughland attacked as part of an early group that gained a large advantage of around nine minutes, before he struck out on his own with 52km remaining.
The peloton then pushed the pace to catch him on undulating terrain but fell agonisingly short, meaning Rogers was forced to sprint for minor placings as the Norwegian rider held on to take victory.
