Fletcher Medway battled to second on a rapid opening stage of the Tour of Armenia.
Medway attacked from a large breakaway 13 kilometres from the finish before tussling with two of his fellow escapees in a three-up sprint in Mets Masrik.
The Australian youngster was second to Michał Pomorski (ATT Investments), but saw his front-foot racing rewarded with the best young rider's jersey ahead of a stern climbing test on stage two.
