Ganna powers to Giro time trial victory

Filippo Ganna powered to a commanding victory in the stage 10 time trial at the Giro d’Italia, leading home a Netcompany INEOS 1-2 finish in Massa.

The Italian champion set an impressive winning time of 45 minutes and 53 seconds, averaging 54.9km/h across the mammoth 42-kilometre course.

That effort saw him claim the win by 1:54 on teammate Thymen Arensman. It would mark a 40th career victory for Ganna and a 10th Grand Tour stage success.

A brilliantly executed effort saw Arensman jump up the general classification to third overall, on a day which saw Afonso Eulalio (Bahrain Victorious) hold on to the race lead. Arensman sits 1:30 back on second placed Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike), and 1:57 on the maglia rosa.

Egan Bernal also climbed up the overall rankings, moving two places up to 13th overall.
