Heiduk third after battling ride in Dunkirk

Kim Heiduk impressed with a battling ride to third place on the penultimate stage at the 4 Jours de Dunkerque.

The German was full of riding on the run into Cassel, and a key part of a pair of breakaway groups. The final move would stay clear to the finish, with Heiduk riding three riders off his wheel on the initial drag up to the line. 

Yet in the final metres there was no stopping the winning acceleration of Natnael Tesfatsion (Movistar), who claimed victory and moved up to second overall.

Heiduk crossed the line seven seconds later, in an effort which would move him up to sixth place on GC with one stage to go. 

Teammate Artem Shmidt now sits ninth overall as the peloton split apart on the steep final ramps.
